CBIE Award given to Dr. Claudia Mitchell

The Faculty of Education is pleased to announce that James McGill Professor Claudia Mitchell has been awarded the
2008 Canadian Bureau of
International Education
(CBIE) award for Innovations in
International Education.

Dr. Mitchell is a world-renowned Canadian scholar and educator. She is a pioneer and innovator in the global struggle against the HIV/AIDS pandemic, particularly as this has affected South Africa and its neighbouring countries.

The importance of her research on HIV/AIDS has been recognised by the United Nations, where she has been a special advisor to the UN General Secretary.
