The NAFTA environmental side agreement: ensuring effective enforcement of environmental laws in North America?

The panel is intended to provide a space for discussion on how and to what extent the NAFTA environmental side agreement promotes and ensures the enforcement of environmental laws in North America.

The discussion will focus on the citizen communications submission process under Art. 14-15 of the North American Agreement on Environmental Cooperation, as well as on trade and enforcement of environmental law initiatives undertaken by the Commission for Environmental Cooperation.

The panel is presented by the Environmental Law McGill student club as part of its "Conference series about the legal, political and social aspects of today’s environmental challenges", held at McGill Faculty of Law from March 30 to April 2, 2009.
