The 2022-23 CAnD3 Annual Report is here!

Experiential Learning

Experiential Learning opportunities allow CAnD3 Fellows to apply the skills they've acquired throughout the CAnD3 training program and their studies and careers to real-world contexts. CAnD3 provides two experiential learning options: 1) applied research projects or 2) paid internships. Fellows declare their choice in the fall term.

1. Applied research project

An applied research project explores the application or the exploration of an application of research findings to applied and/or decision-making contexts in public, private or civic sectors. Fellows can develop their own project from their existing program of research or choose among those projects offered by CAnD3 members.

2. Internship opportunities

Internship opportunities are optional and provided by CAnD3 government, private and not-for-profit partners. CAnD3 Fellows who are interested in a paid internship will be matched through a competitive process with a CAnD3 partner and project taking into account each Fellow's research interests and skills and the partner's decision-making needs. Our partners will provide challenges, research questions, data, context, scope, links to decision-making, and key deliverable requirements for each internship. Note: although we do our best to provide an internship to all Fellows who express interest, we cannot guarantee an internship spot to all CAnD3 Fellows.

Hear from past CAnD3 Fellows on their Experiential Learning

"I am very excited to be involved with  and to be meeting the amazing people from SE Research Centre. Bridging knowledge across big data, data visualization and healthy aging in this translational work is definitely an amazing opportunity."

Emma Rodrigues, CAnD3 Fellow 2020-21
PhD, Interactive Arts and Technology, Simon Fraser University

"For me, overall, what was maybe the biggest or the most amazing thing that the program was not only about skills and knowledge, but it was also about values. Like […] to promote transparency and to show us how to do it."
