Emma Wallens received her BS in Health Sciences with minors in Biological Sciences and Spanish from Purdue University in 2019. She was a part of the College of Health and Human Sciences Honors Research Program Undergraduate Program and focused on the feasibility of a portable X-ray fluorescence (L XRF) device for bone lead measurements of condor bones. Emma received her Master’s in Social Science Administration (MSW Equivalent) with a concentration in Health as well as her Master of Public Health in May 2022. Her Capstone focused on psychosocial and comorbid factors affecting time from arrival to inpatient chemotherapy at the Louis Stokes Veterans Affairs hospital in Cleveland, OH, USA. Emma is grateful to pursue her PhD in Epidemiology at 㽶Ƶ, beginning Fall 2022.

Brief Description:My PhD thesis will assess the current impact of the pandemic on cervical cancer prevention and treatment in Québec, estimate its long-term impact on cervical cancer survival, and determine whether there is variability in the effect of the pandemic on cervical cancer incidence based on socioeconomic status
