Member-at-Large Nominations

Ï㽶ÊÓƵ Board of Governors

The Statutes of Ï㽶ÊÓƵ set out the composition of the Board of Governors, which provides for a broad range of membership from the major constituencies of the University, including faculty, administrative and support staff, students and alumni, as well as 12 (out of a total of 27) members-at-large.

The Statutes give the Board of Governors authority only with respect to the appointment of the twelve members-at-large of the Board of Governors, who are eligible to serve a maximum of two consecutive terms, for a total of not more than eight years. The remaining fifteen members are elected to the Board in accordance with the Statutes.

Considerations

Members-at-large demonstrate evidence of skills and expertise in one or more of the following areas: public policy, external relations, financial literacy and audit, real estate, technology, fundraising and philanthropy, law, communications, community involvement and human resource matters.

Members-at-large possess strategic disposition and expertise and networks in government, industry, community and other key areas as identified by the Board. They also have knowledge of Quebec and Canadian society, an awareness and respect for public policy issues relating to post-secondary education, and a commitment to the University.

Please note that members of the McGill community, such as students and employees, are not eligible for nomination as members-at-large.

The NGE Committee endeavors to reflect the cultural diversity of the broader community, and encourages the nomination of candidates who reflect the diversity of our larger society.

At this time, the NGE Committee is seeking nominations of candidates with skills and expertise in the following areas:

  1. Information Technology
  2. External Relations
