Davin Luce is a doctoral candidate in the Department of Art History and Communication Studies at McGill, working under the supervision of Dr. Jeehee Hong. He holds an BA in Art History from McGill and a MA in Art History from the University of British Columbia. His research focuses broadly on the visual culture of middle-period China (9-14th centuries), with a particular interest in visual materials related to Buddhist deities known as ±ô³Ü´Ç³ó²¹²Ô²õ.ÌýIn his dissertation project, Davin examines the material and conceptual associations between ±ô³Ü´Ç³ó²¹²Ô²õÌýand other important Buddhist figures, such as the Ten Disciples of the Buddha, in pictorial and sculptural imagery. Davin’s doctoral studies and research has been supported by the Max Stern Museum Fellowship, the Graduate Excellence Award, and the Blakemore Kingfisher Fellowship.
