How to accept your offer

Let us know you're coming before the deadline given in your letter of acceptance.

Your official letter of acceptance* can be found inyour . Log in to your Portal toconsult your letter and verify your confirmation deadline. You will not receive a hard copy by mail. You may print copies of your official letter of acceptance for your files.

*International students: Please note that you must accept your offer of admission and pay your confirmation deposit in order to access your 'official' letter of acceptance to beginyour CAQ and study permit applications.

How do Iaccept my offer?

Click on the 'View your letter(s)' link. A new window will open.The letter will be displayed.

You can respond to your offer by clicking on the 'Respond to your offer of admission' link.

If you do notrespond by the deadline, your place may be given to the next person on the waiting list – so be sure to confirm and register on time! If you run into problems while trying to confirm or register, don’t worry – just contact Service Point for assistance. (Music students, email Music 㽶Ƶ).

How much is the deposit?
  • Canadian citizens and Permanent Residents of Canada: $500 CAD

Note: Be sure to declare your Canadian citizenship or residency status on your application for admission.

The citizenship or residency status you declare on your application for admission must be valid at the time of submission. Pending citizenship requests or permanent residency requests are not considered “valid”. Do not declare that you are a permanent resident or citizen of Canada unless you have already been granted Canadian citizenship or permanent residency.

McGill reserves the right to ask for supporting documentation to verify your legal status in Canada.

Should I accept my offer if I am waiting on a decision for another program?

If you are decided on McGill, you can accept your first offer now. Accepting your first offer will not influence the review of your other program choices. If you are later admitted to a second program and you wish to accept that offer, you must contactService Pointto request a change.

When should I apply for financial aid?

We know that cost is an important part of your decision to accept an offer of admission. We encourage you toplan your finances and apply for financial aidbefore you accept. We strongly recommend applyingwithin 30 days from the date of formal acceptanceto the University as funding for this program is limited and offered on a rolling basis until resources are exhausted.Apply as early as possible to get the information you will need to make a well-informed decision!
