This seminar gives an overview of the history of the electricity supply system generally, and the research, development, and deployment trajectory of microgrids in particular. The nature of the technical changes taking place is described, and an alternative paradigm for the future power sector is envisioned.


Speaker: Chris Marnay, TISED Scholar-in-Residence, Retired Staff Scientist, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory - China Energy Group

Over the last 15 years, Dr. Chris Marnay’s work and research has focused on microgrids and he has become a very influential researcher in this area. Chris will bring his experience to bear, working with TISED and others on exploring the benefits of microgrids and their role in smart grid deployment and sustainable resilient communities.
