Description of The Carbon Rush film

The Carbon Rush, takes us around the world to meet the people most impacted. They are the least heard in the cacophony surrounding in this emerging "green-gold" multi-billion dollar carbon industry. From indigenous rain forest dwellers having their way of life completely threatened, to dozens of Campesinos assassinated, to the livelihood of waste pickers at landfills taken away, THE CARBON RUSH travels across continents and brings us up close to projects working through United Nations, Kyoto Protocol designed Clean Development Mechanism. This groundbreaking documentary feature asks the fundamental questions "What happens when we manipulate markets to solve the climate crisis? Who to gain and who stands to suffer?"

Under the Weather Series

It becomes harder and harder to ignore or deny the devastating impacts of climate change being seen in more and more parts of the world. What is happening with our climate systems? What will an increase of 25, 50 or 100 more parts per million of CO2 mean for glaciers, natural disasters, sea levels and our food and ecosystems? How does policy affect the capacity to change these numbers and who pays for it? What are the frontline climat justice movements? Who are behind them, what are they fighting for and what potential impact will their success or failure have on you, me and the rest of the planet? CKUT 90.3FM, in collaboration with McGill Office of Sustainability, Climate Justice Montreal and GEC3(?), is hosting a year-long, monthly series that brings together climate research, science, policy and justice.

Under the Weather: Climate Change Research and Justice alternates monthly between the research on causes and impacts of climate change, and climate justice actors. Each lecture will take place on the second Thursday of each month at 6:30 PM at Ï㽶ÊÓƵ, and the lectures will be broadcast live on McGill's campus radio station, CKUT 90.3FM (or ). The lectures will also be distributed in a podcast format after the broadcast to be downloaded and listened to anytime, anywhere, bringing the campus to the community and the community to the campus.
