Historique : Survey of the development of the multinational state in the British Isles and Ireland from antiquity to the seventeenth century revolutions. Emphasis on state making and ethnicity formation in England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales, as well as English overseas territories in Europe, Africa, and the Americas.
