Overview

Economics (Arts) : An examination of the theoretical and empirical issues of gender and economics. Emphasis is placed on gender in the context of household economics, labour economics, development economics and a critical assessment of economic policies in these spheres. Gender norms (for example, traditional gender roles, dowries, son preferences) will be explored in how they interact with economics. Material is drawn from Canada, OECD and the Global South to address debates, policies and examples around gender equality and gender gaps.
