Overview

Asian Language & Literature : In this course, we examine contesting notions of gender, sexuality, femininity, and masculinity in Chinese cinema. We study how individual films negotiate the social discourses on gender and sexual representation, identities, and performance, and how we may borrow conceptual frameworks from queer theories and histories at large to discuss them.
