We are pleased to announce the launch our SBNH-SBNH-L Global Virtual Community of Practice (SBNH GVCoP). Our SBNH GVCoP bring together nursing and healthcare clinicians, leaders, educators, students, researchers, and policymakers who embrace the vision of humanizing healthcare guided by SBNH.
Communities of Practice foster situated learning – learning that takes place through relationships and within context. In healthcare, communities of practice have been used to advance education from the point of training to implementation into clinical practice. In 2002, Wenger et al described a community of practice as “Groups of people who share a concern, set of problems or a passion about a topic and who deepen their knowledge and expertise in this area by interacting on an ongoing basis.â€
Goals of our SBNH GVCoP:
The SBNH GVCoP will exchange, create, and transform nursing and healthcare practices, management, education, and research by embracing a vision of:
- Connection: connecting nurses and healthcare professionals by promoting-exchanging-sharing-expanding practice, knowledge and experiential care to person, patient, families and communities around the values of SBNH;
- Collaboration: collaborating in thinking-learning and sharing of solutions, innovations and design of SBNH aligned care;
- Partnership:Â partnering in implementation of a transformative leadership in workplace cultures and environments that honour, develop, mobilize, and capitalize on the strengths of individuals, patients, families, communities, and teams through SBNH philosophy, embodied in practice.
The GVCoP is a way to support the adoption and implementation of SBNH and SBNH-L in a diversity of settings and of international contexts. Through our GVCoP and related initiatives, we strive to develop, enrich, inspire, promote, support, and facilitate the creation of SBNH environments and activities.
Our GVCoP members will have opportunities to assess and improve our collective community charter, to access theoretical and practical papers, and to share tools. We will also share our experiences with SBNH/L. Useful strategies for adoption and implementation will be discussed and webinars proposed. We will be conducting research to evaluate the implementation and perceived impact of the GVCoP on SBNH diffusion and dissemination throughout the next year. Your participation in a research implementation and impact, as a community of practice member will be optional. You can join the CVP now and once a member of the GBCoP, you will be invited to join the research and the information in relation to your participation in this research will be provided with an information sheet about recruitment on the community platform.
