Virtual STARS: Your genes and your personal nutrition
Presented by Daiva E. Nielsen, Assistant Professor, Ï㽶ÊÓƵ School of Human Nutrition
Human eating behaviour is complex and influenced by many biological and social factors. The modern day food environment poses challenges for healthful eating, particularly for individuals with biological traits to prefer more palatable foods. My research evaluates how biological factors interact together with exposures in the food environment to influence eating behaviour. Themes of genetics, food cue responsiveness, taste, and the retail food environment will be discussed. Findings from my work will be used to design innovative, more individualized strategies to improve eating habits and manage body weight.
