Life Finds a Way!
Did you know there are “aliens” living in our own backyard? An extremophile is an organism that lives in extreme environments where humans would not survive! For example, there’s a snail that lives at the bottom of the ocean and is covered in scaly iron feet to protect it from the high pressures. Where else in the solar system might we find extremophile alien creatures, and how would they adapt to survive in hostile conditions? Can you come up with a planet beyond our solar system, and what sort of creature might live on it? In this activity, you’ll use clay to build your own extremophile and then tell us all about where it lives and how it survives in extreme climates!Â
