McGill Becomes a Full Member of TRIUMF, Canada’s National Particle Accelerator

McGill has become a Full Member of the expanded network of TRIUMF, Canada’s national particle accelerator. McGill has been involved in TRIUMF-led activities for several decades and has held associate membership since 2013.

TRIUMF constructed parts of the Large Hadron Collider that ultimately produced Higgs bosons. The co-discovery was made by the ATLAS experiment, and McGill played a key role in the development of the experiment's trigger system.

McGill ranks among the best Medical/Doctoral Universities of the Year

In an announcement made Wednesday, Canada’s leading research ranking organization, RE$EARCH Infosource, scored McGill second among an A-list of three in the Medical/Doctoral Research University of the Year (RUY) tier. McGill was ranked third on RE$EARCH Infosource’s list of Canada’s Top 50 Research Universities in 2022, a position the University has maintained for four years.

Nominate someone for appointment to the Order of Canada

The Order of Canada is one of the country's highest civilian honors, recognizing outstanding achievement, dedication to the community, and service to the nation. More than 7,000 people from all sectors of society have been invested into the Order since its inception in 1967. McGill has over 80 recipients of the Order of Canada. One-year extension for the Vice-Principal (Research and Innovation)

McGill’s Board of Governors has extended the current appointment of ProfessorĚýMarthaĚýCrago as Vice-Principal (Research and Innovation) for a one-year period, from June 30, 2023, to June 30, 2024.Ěý

The extension will ensure stable leadership of the Research and Innovation portfolio during the upcoming Principal and Vice-Chancellor transition and allow the new Principal to actively participate in selecting Professor Crago’s successor.

Cecile Baccanale joins McGill as University Veterinarian and Associate Vice-Principal, Animal Care

It is my great pleasure to announce that Dr. Cecile Baccanale has accepted the position of Ď㽶ĘÓƵ Veterinarian and Associate Vice-Principal, Animal Care. Dr. Baccanale is also appointed Full Professor (Professional) in the Department of Medicine (Division of Experimental Medicine) in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. Her appointment will commence on October 17, 2022.
