Sheldon Biotechnology Centre – 2014 Update
Dear Colleagues,Â
For over 20 years, Ï㽶ÊÓƵ’s Sheldon Biotechnology Centre at the Duff Medical Building has provided provincial, national, and international clientele with personalized, high-quality research services to characterize biomolecules.
Since its founding, the Sheldon Centre has evolved to meet the shifting needs of researchers in the natural and life sciences – and that tradition continues today.
In response to a rapidly changing research environment, the following changes to the Sheldon Centre’s core facilities and services will soon be implemented:   Â
- The Sheldon SPR Facility (Biacore 3000) will be relocating to McGill’s Life Sciences Complex.
- The Sheldon Multiplexing Facility (Meso Scale Discovery Sector Imager 2400) will be relocating to the Strathcona Building.
- The Sheldon Edman Sequencing and Peptide Synthesis services will no longer be offered.
- For inquiries related to Mass Spectrometry services, please email bernard.gibbs [at] mcgill.ca (Dr. Bernard Gibbs).
The researchers affiliated with the Sheldon Biotechnology Centre have generated over 500 articles in peer-reviewed publications to date. In recognition of its research accomplishments, I would like to extend my sincere thanks to the many individuals and partners – especially Dr. Huntington Sheldon, the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI), the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), and the Natural Sciences and Engineering Council of Canada (NSERC) – who have supported research excellence and student training at the Sheldon Centre over the past two decades. Thank you as well to the long-time clients who continue to choose research services offered through the Sheldon Centre and across McGill.
The McGill SPR Facility and McGill Multiplexing Facility remain open for business and welcome new projects. Those teams look forward to assisting with your research grants and projects in 2014 and beyond.
Sincerely,
Dr. Rose Goldstein
Vice-Principal (Research and International Relations)
