AMURE – bargaining in presence of conciliator

McGill Human Resources has asked Research and International Relations to relay updates on the University’s negotiations with AMURE, the union representing research associates and assistants.

AMURE – bargaining in presence of conciliator

The parties met all day on Oct. 24 in the presence of the government-appointed conciliator.Ěý The parties reviewed in detail what remains to be discussed and agreed to continue discussing non-monetary items, reserving monetary items for future meetings.

Four topics were chosen for discussion, which were the subject of presentations from the union, followed by questions and discussions.Ěý Proposals made by McGill on technological change, training and development, and on subjects that could be taken immediately to step two in the arbitration process were reviewed and commented by the union.Ěý Modified versions of the articles related to these topics will be presented for review at the next meeting, set for October 31st.

Five additional dates in November and December were agreed to in order to progress with the remaining elements to be negotiated, both non-monetary and monetary. These discussions will also take place in the presence of the conciliator.

Les parties se sont rencontrĂ©es durant toute la journĂ©e du 24 octobre dernier en prĂ©sence de la conciliatrice dĂ©signĂ©e par le gouvernement. Les parties ont revu en dĂ©tail ce qui reste Ă  ĂŞtre discutĂ© et ont convenu de poursuivre la nĂ©gociation des Ă©lĂ©ments non-monĂ©taires, mettant de cĂ´tĂ© les Ă©lĂ©ments monĂ©taires pour discussion future.Ěý

Quatre sujets de discussion ont Ă©tĂ© choisis, qui ont fait l’objet de prĂ©sentations par le syndicat, suivies de questions et discussions.Ěý Des propositions de la part de l’UniversitĂ© ayant trait au changement technologique, Ă  la formation et dĂ©veloppement, et Ă  d’autres sujets pouvant conduire immĂ©diatement Ă  la deuxième Ă©tape de la procĂ©dure d’arbitrage ont Ă©tĂ© revus et commentĂ©s par le syndicat. Des versions modifiĂ©es des articles qui concernent ces sujets seront prĂ©sentĂ©es pour ĂŞtre revues lors de la prochaineĚý sĂ©ance de nĂ©gociation, prĂ©vue pour le 31 octobre.

Cinq dates ont été convenues en novembre et décembre en vue de l’avancement des points non-monétaires et monétaires encore non-résolus. Ces séances auront lieu également en présence de la conciliatrice.
