Ukraine Talk - Religious Roots of the War in Ukraine
Tuesday, April 12, 2022 17:30to19:15
Birks Building
3520 rue University, Montreal, QC, H3A 2A7, CA
The war in Ukraine has drawn the world's attention to a nation whose complex history, interwoven that of her neighbours--especially Russia--is often misconstrued. Dr. Butcher, Adjunct Professor in the SRS and subdeacon in the Ukranian Greco-Catholic Church, will offer a conspectus of East Slavic history, giving particular attention to the determinative role that the Orthodox and Byzantine-Rite Catholic communities have played therein.
Rev. Dr. Ihor Kutash, a Ukrainian Orthodox priest, in addition to responding to the lecture, will preside at a traditional chanted service beforehand.
All are welcome to come pray, learn and discuss; a collection will be taken to support relief efforts in the war zone.
