New Program Director for Geriatric Psychiatry: Dr. Jess Friedland
It is our pleasure to announce Dr. Jess Friedland as the new Program Director for Geriatric Psychiatry.
Dr. Friedland is an Assistant Professor and psychiatrist based at the Douglas Mental Health University Institute. She received her medical degree from the University of Calgary and completed Ìýher psychiatry residency and geriatric psychiatry fellowship at McGill. She has been co-chair of the Psychotherapy Committee since 2011 and is the medical director of the Geriatric Psychiatry External Clinic at the Douglas. She teaches regularly in the Geriatric Psychiatry and Psychotherapy diploma courses. Her clinical work includes outpatient care in general geriatric psychiatry and inpatient care of patients with dementia and behavioral problems, both at the Douglas. She is also a group psychotherapist at the Ï㽶ÊÓƵ Sexual Identity Centre.Ìý
As the new Program Director of Geriatric Psychiatry, Dr. Friedland will be responsible for creating and advancing a Royal College-accredited subspecialty training program in geriatric psychiatry at McGill.
