Canada has over 200 languages and acknowledging this linguistic diversity in the classroom is needed. Dr. Angelica Galante is among several Canadian scholars who are calling for inclusive education in Canada. She was interviewed by the British Columbia-based newspaper on October 20, 2020.
Dr. Galante argues that “language pedagogy that fails to recognize the languages that students bring to class is inadequate and unproductive” and provides a few examples of what language teachers can do in the classroom.
