Welcome Dr. Marina Salvadori
The Department of Pediatrics would like to introduce our newest member, Dr. Marina Salvadori, appointed Professor in the Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases.
Marina Salvadori got her medical degree at Queen’s University in 1991. She did her residency in pediatrics at the University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, then trained in Infectious Diseases at The Hospital For Sick Children in Toronto. She was part of the team that provided clinical care, and then long term follow up in the Walkerton Water Crisis. She spent 2000-2020 at the Children’s Hospital in London as the Division Head for Pediatric Infectious Diseases. She is very interested in vaccine preventable diseases, immunization education and awareness. She has advocated locally, provincially and nationally for publicly funded immunizations for children. At the end of January 2020 she joined the Public Health Agency of Canada as the Clinical Lead for COVID-19. Since then she has lived, breathed, and dreamed all things pandemic.
Marina is married to her high school sweetheart, John, and has three adult children. Her mother is Irish and her father Italian, and the mix resulted in a passionate, excitable extrovert who loves good conversation and good food. She cares a lot about the planet and takes recycling a bit too seriously. She is challenged by most technology. She loves to argue politics, travel and garden.
Marina will be joining our Division of Infectious Disease and Microbiology at the rank of Full Professor. In addition to her clinical role as an attending she will assist in hospital wide infection control efforts.
