Welcome Dr. Angeliki Makri
The Department of Pediatrics would like to introduce our newest member, Dr. Angeliki Makri, appointed Assistant Professor in the Division of Pediatric Endocrinology and Metabolism.
It’s an honor to join the MCH family! I completed my medical school training in Athens, Greece and then I moved to Montreal where I completed my MSc in Human Genetics at McGill. After submitting my thesis, we moved to NYC with my husband, where I did my residency in general pediatrics. And our final stop before returning to Montreal, this time as a family of four, was at the NIH in Bethesda, Maryland, where I did my core training in pediatric endocrinology.
In July 2019, I joined the academic pediatric endocrinology fellowship program at the MCH. My primary research interest lies in understanding the genetics of pediatric diabetes through the use of bioinformatics and precision medicine methodologies. I am currently working towards the establishment of a pediatric T1 diabetes biobank that will combine clinical, laboratory and genomic markers to cluster T1 diabetes cases into different subgroups using machine learning approaches.
Outside of the hospital, our two adorable school-age children (and a soon-to-come baby girl) know how to keep us on our toes! We love doing all sorts of outdoors activities and enjoy all that Montreal and its surroundings have to offer.
Looking forward to working with you all!
Angeliki
