Welcome Dr. Amaryllis Ferrand to the Department!
The Department of Pediatrics would like to introduce our newest member, Dr. Amaryllis Ferrand, appointed Assistant Professor in the Division of Neonatology.
Dr. Amaryllis Ferrand is joining the team as a staff neonatologist at the Jewish General Hospital. She is also currently completing a PhD in Biomedical Sciences, Clinical Ethics option at the University of Montreal under the supervision of Dr Eric Racine. Dr. Ferrand's current research is on the topic of prognostication in high-risk pregnancies. She is a recipient of the prestigious Vanier Canada Scholarship for her doctoral work. Prior to this, Dr. Ferrand studied Biomedical Sciences and Psychology at the University of Ottawa. After attending Medical School at the University of Ottawa, she completed a residency in Pediatrics at the London Children Hospital through the University of Western Ontario, followed by a fellowship in neonatology and a fellowship as a clinical investigator at the Sainte-Justine University Hospital in Montreal. During her fellowships Dr. Ferrand did a masters in Biomedical Sciences, Clinical Ethics option at the University of Montreal under the supervision of Dr Antoine Payot where she worked on parental projection of future quality of life of children hospitalized in the neonatal intensive care unit.
Dr. Ferrand is an outdoors fanatic and the best place to find her on weekends is on top of a mountain, whether snowboarding or mountain biking. In pre-COVID times, she would also enjoy spending time with friends along with a good bottle of wine. In the meantime, she loves relaxing with her family and dog and tending to her garden.
