Biography:
Dr. Karl Grenier is a pediatric and perinatal pathologist and is double board certified in Anatomical Pathology by the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada and the American Board of Pathology. He completed a PhD in neuroscience and cellular biology at the Montreal Neurological Institute focusing on mitochondrial import and autophagy before obtaining a MDCM degree at McGill. He completed a residency in Anatomical Pathology at Ï㽶ÊÓƵ and a fellowship in pediatric and perinatal pathology at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia before joining McGill Pathology as an Assistant Professor and staff pediatric and perinatal pathologist.
Current research:
- Development of a placental pathology platform, aimed at finding new histopathological and molecular correlates and predictive features of fetal and maternal disease.
- Improving diagnosis and classification of neonatal and juvenile lower gastrointestinal tract disorders.
- Leveraging mass spectrometry and deep learning technologies for renal pathology subtyping, for clinical and research purposes.
- Novel approaches to identify cryptic causes of death in pediatric autopsies.
