Dr Gotlieb obtained his MD summa cum laude in 1984, PhD and certification in Ob-Gyn in 1991at ULB, in his native Belgium. After 2 years at the NIH, he obtained the National Cancer Institute Award of Outstanding Performance, and performed a three year fellowship in Gynaecologic-oncology at UCLA. In 1994 he co-founded the Department of Gynaecologic-Oncology at Tel Aviv University, where he continued his clinical research until 2003, when he was recruited by 㽶Ƶ. He obtained license to practice in Europe, Israel, California, and Canada. He is Project Director at the LDI Research Institute. Together with his team, and particularly Dr. Lau, they have been the pioneers of “robotic” surgery in gynaecologic oncology in Canada. He has lectured around the world, and has proctored robotic surgery in Canada, China, India, and Israel. A recipient of thirteen national and international awards in the area of cancer research, Dr. Gotlieb is well published with 150 peer-reviewed manuscripts in reputable international journals and book chapters. Dr. Gotlieb is President of the Gynecologic Oncology Society of Canada, secretary treasurer of the International Gynecologic Cancer Society and senior editor of the International Journal of Gynecologic Cancer. His prior involvements with medical societies include the council of the International Gynecologic Cancer Society, the Israel Gynecologic Oncologists, secretary treasurer of the Society of Gynecologic Oncologists of Canada, the SGO program committee, the International Committee of the SGO, and Vice President of the Association des Gynécologues Oncologues du Québec. He recently completed an executive course in health care management and delivery at the Harvard Business School.
