Montreal Gazette - McGill graduates keep a close eye on Redmen
Published: 24 March 2011
No other team in Canadian university hockey likely has more of a following in the National Hockey League than the McGill Redmen. Among former Redmen are Detroit Red Wings head coach Mike Babcock, who has his name on the Stanley Cup, Tampa Bay Lightning head coach Guy Boucher and his assistant Martin Raymond, and Los Angeles Kings assistant coach Jamie Kompon. Canadiens forward Mathieu Darche also played at McGill.
The McGill graduates have all kept a close watch on the Redmen since leaving university for pro hockey careers, and they'll all be paying special attention to the Canadian Interuniversity Sport national championship this week in Fredericton, N.B.
