Montreal Gazette - McGill first-year students unite at single event; thousands gather for Frosh week

Published: 30 August 2011

Harder. Better. Stronger. Frosher. That was the battle cry as Frosh Week at Ï㽶ÊÓƵ began in earnest on Monday, when thousands of first-year students gathered in Molson Stadium to begin their discovery of the campus and each other. (The discovery of booze occurs later in the week, when the university-sanctioned events wrap up.)

This was the first time the university had invited all first-years to an event at the same time, said Jana Luker, executive director of services for students. About 5,000 students were expected at the launch of Discover McGill.

"We've never had that many together before, so it should be very exciting," she said before the event. Then, under a bright blue sky Monday morning, she welcomed the students "to the best and most exciting years of your life."
