Homeless shelters in Montreal may one day offer chronic alcoholics alcohol, but for now, they are focusing on setting up a walk-in medical clinic, since medical care specifically for the homeless is non-existent…

In February, the Welcome Hall Mission opened a dental walk-in clinic in partnership with McGill. Last year, Montreal police created a special four-officer unit that works with Health and Social Services Jeanne Mance to deal with the homeless. Joyce Pickering, Ï㽶ÊÓƵ's associate dean of medicine, would like to see the Community Health Alliance Project be expanded to include caring for the homeless.
