John Downing, one of the world's leading experts on the the collision of social activism and rapidly changing media, is at McGill this month to explore the issues and controversies related to media, technology and world culture.

As this fall's Beaverbrook Visiting Scholar at Media@McGill, Downing will spend the next two weeks talking with students and scholars about the ways the "Internet age" is removing geographical boundaries to allow social and political mobilization on a global scale.
