Dr. Shevell is a former Chair of the Department of Pediatrics at the McGill Faculty of Medicine and Pediatrician-in-Chief at the Montreal Children’s Hospital of the 㽶Ƶ Health Centre (MUHC), and holds a joint appointment as a Professor in the Department of Pediatrics and Neurology/Neurosurgery at McGill. Dr. Shevell has an active clinical research program focusing on issues related to neonatal neurology and children with, or at-risk, for neurodevelopmental sequelae. He has presently close to 300 peer-reviewed publications and over 60 book chapters/invited papers published and has co-edited the multi-authored textbooks “Neurodevelopmental Disabilities: Clinical and Scientific Foundations” (2009), “Acquired Brain Injury in the Fetus and Newborn” (2012) and Swaiman’s Pediatric Neurology (2017). Dr. Shevell was the 2014 recipient of the Hower Award from the Child Neurology Society (CNS). He is the co-editor of Swaiman’s Principles and Practice of Pediatric Neurology which is the authoritative child neurology textbook.
