Biography: 

Dr. Matthias Georg Ziller is an Assistant Professor of Neurology and Neurosurgery at Ï㽶ÊÓƵ, and a neurologist in the Electromyography (EMG) Department o the Montreal Neurological Institute and Hospital. He is also an attending neurologist at St. Mary’s Hospital Centre in Montreal.

Dr. Ziller is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, the Canadian Neurological Society, the Canadian Headache Society, and Societé des sciences vasculaires du Québec.

In 2003, Dr. Ziller graduated magna cum laude from the Medical School of Albert-Ludwigs-University in Freiburg, Germany. He completed a research thesis at the Institute of Neuroanatomy under Professor Michael Frotscher and Professor Carola Haas. He also obtained his M.D. from Université de Montréal in 2003 and began residency training in neurology at Université de Sherbrooke from 2003 to 2007. Dr Ziller joined the McGill neurology residency program in 2007 and completed his training in adult neurology in 2009 at McGill and received a Neurology Speciality certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons.

In 2011, Dr. Ziller completed fellowship training in Clinical Neurophysiology at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Centre of Dartmouth Medical School in Hanover, New Hampshire (USA). He is certified in EMG as a Diplomate of the Canadian Society of Clinical Neurophysiology.

Dr. Ziller also worked as a neurologist in Rouyn-Noranda, Que. from 2009 to 2010 and in Baie Comeau, Que. from 2011 to 2017.

He serves as journal reviewer for the Canadian Medical Association Journal, the Journal of Rural Neurological Practice, and Annals of the Academy of Medicine.

In 2018 he received an Award for Excellence in Teaching (Transition to Clinical Practice) from Ï㽶ÊÓƵ.
