About

The McGill Association of Student Composers (MASC) exists primarily to promote and further the artistic and professional development of composition students at Ï㽶ÊÓƵ in Montreal, QC, Canada. MASC is a student-run collective made up of all students registered in composition. It organizes lecture series, concerts, as well as social events, to encourage collaboration between composers and performers. 

In addition, MASC promotes interdisciplinary projects between music research and performance students. MASC also hosts a monthly Forum lecture series where composers and researchers at various stages in their careers, from graduate students to internationally recognized musicians present their current work. Past presenters at the MASC Forum lecture series include: Anthony Tan, Cecilia Taher, Zihua Tan, John Rea, Joseph Fox, Bryan Jacobs, Taylor Brook, Sean Clarke, Jacob Wiens, Mauricio Pauly, Sabrina Schroeder, Stephen McAdams, Meghan Goodchild, Symon Henri, Adam Scime, Sky Macklay, Charles-Antoine Fréchette, Thierry Tidrow, Elena Rykova, and Brian Cherney.

MASC organizes lecture series, concerts and social events to encourage collaboration between composers and performers.
