Laura Risk receives Governor General's Award for Academic Excellence
The exceptional research ofÌýLaura Risk, PhD'17, has been honoured by Ï㽶ÊÓƵ. She has received the University'sÌýhighest honour, theÌýGovernor General's Gold Medal. ÌýThis award is grantedÌýto the most outstanding graduating Master's or Doctoral student in Human Sciences (Social Sciences and Humanities) with a second equivalent medal being offered inÌýthe Natural Sciences, including Biological, Physical or Engineering.Ìý Her thesis work examinedÌýmusical tradition and identity in Quebec, and explored the evolution of traditional music in Quebec throughout the 20th century and its association with discourses of French-Canadian identity. ÌýIn addition to the Governor General's Award, Risk received theÌýMcGill Alumni Association Graduate Award, valued at $1,500.Ìý
