MORSL’s Mysticism Discussion Group is a place to learn and converse about spiritual practices and experiences across traditions. Each session will feature a different topic of interest that will be explored through readings, music, meditations, and most of all through sharing your thinking and experiences. Students of all religious, spiritual and secular backgrounds are welcome to join in and enrich these conversations.

In this issue "Between Worlds", our writers and artists have beautifully transcended the "isms" to bridge distances between worlds. Reality, as it turns out, is as plural as there are people walking this vast, plentiful earth. We are proud to present here poems, prose, photographs, and artworks by students who have been inspired to reach within themselves, and far beyond.

New at MORSL: Offering faith-based group support

MORSL is now offering faith-based group support for managing the spiritual and emotional distress surrounding the situation in the Middle East.

Each session opens and closes under the spiritual guidance of a faith leader, with a group discussion facilitated by McGill wellness professionals. Groups are small (7 students) and meet in person at MORSL. A series of 4 sessions is currently being offered to Muslim- and Jewish-identified students respectively. McGill students can join any or all sessions but MUST register as space is limited.

Exceptionally, we will also close on Thursday July 13 for a Student Services staff activity

MORSL is launching a peer faith volunteer program this Fall and we are now accepting applications for student volunteers.

We encourage applications from both undergraduate and graduate students at McGill who are looking to enhance their involvement with their faith or spiritual life through peer support. Volunteers will be trained to provide confidential, non-judgmental faith-based peer support and participate in a vibrant, multi-faith cohort designed to encourage multi-faith learning and collaboration.

As the Summer term begins, MORSL is offering two new workshop series during the month of May. Join us at MORSL throughout the month of May each Tuesday and Wednesday evening as we explore various questions touching on coping with grief and loss, and our relationship to the environment. These events are open to all McGill students free of charge. Please note that the MORSL's drop-in space in the Presbyterian College (3495 University) is closed Monday May 27 due to a water shut-off. All activities happening outside the Presbyterian College are going ahead as usual.

We're available on this day by email and on social media for any info or questions. Our drop-in space re-opens as usual on Tuesday May 28.

The theme for this issue, Care, is inspired in part by the experiences of some of our staff who had the privilege of attending the Parliament of World Religions in Toronto earlier this year. This conference saw some ten thousand individuals – artists, activists, scholars, faith leaders, and people of every passionate streak – gather to discuss the message: “the promise of inclusion, the power of love”.

The school year begins and the warm days run their course. We take a second to step outside the high hum of busy-being and instead meander our way through trees turned radiant. As we walk we ponder and reflect: What avenues are opening up to us this autumn season? Which paths have we taken that have led us to today? We consider the infinite ways of being and doing and living on this Earth and the infinite directions one’s path may go. Not quite knowing where the present route leads, we wander on.

MORSL Launches Invitation to the 2018 Parliament of the World's Religions

The next Parliament of the World’s Religions (PoWR) will be held in Toronto November 1-7, 2018. The Parliament has been meeting every few years since 1893, and is now a world-renowned gathering of people from dozens of faith backgrounds and scores of countries. Recent conferences have drawn attendances numbering more than 10,000. For details about this incredible conference, please visit the Parliament's website.

Easter/Passover (Pesach) closing

Please note that the MORSL offices will be closed on Friday March 30th for Good Friday and the beginning of Passover. There is no zen meditation practice on this date since the Birks building is also closed. MORSL is also closed on Monday April 2, which is Easter Monday and the third day of Passover. Easter and Passover are among the most celebrated holidays in Christianity and Judaism, and bring a message of hope. We wish everyone a joyous holiday and look forward to seeing you when we re-open on April 3rd
