Universities are among Canada’s most important strategic assets. At their best, universities drive research and innovation, serve as hubs for the cross pollination of people, ideas, and civil debate, and are well-positioned to help address complex and pressing global challenges.
In Canada, universities fall under provincial jurisdiction, and are therefore also tied to the economic prosperity, workforce development, research impact, and social vitality of their respective provinces and local communities.
Quebec’s recent decision to raise tuition fees and impose language requirements on out-of-province and international undergraduate students has sparked questions about the impact of this policy shift on Quebec and Canada, and the role and responsibility of universities relative to the big issues of our time.
On March 13th, 2024, you are invited to join us for a roundtable panel on the value of universities to Quebec and Canada.
