Winter Networking Event 2015
Event Description
The NSERC CREATE-ISS Winter Networking Event is a student-run initiative of the NSERC CREATE-ISS Program. This year, the Winter Networking Event aims to bridge the gap between academia and industry under the theme "Sensors: From Lab to Life". This event will provide a unique opportunity for students to explore various career paths available to researchers in the field of sensing and to learn about the steps on how to bring sensor technology into the real-life applications. The event program will include talks from academic and industry professionals, a networking-focused reception, as well as a student photo competition and door prizes. Food, soft and alcoholic beverages will be available and are included in the registration fee!
Event Program
The event will take place on March 19th 2015 from 2:30 PM to 8:00 PM, at Thomson House Ballroom (Second floor), located at 㽶Ƶ downtown campus. During the event, there will be speakers from both industry and academia, along with a panel discussion on “How to Bring Sensors From Lab to Life: Opportunities and Challenges”.

Rates for ISS Students
- Regular fee: $10 (before March 11, 2015 11:59 PM EST)
- Late registration fee: $20 (effective from March 11, 2015 12:00 PM EST to March 18, 2015 11:59 PM EST).
* Note: As an ISS member, you will be fully refunded the regular or late registration fees below, but only after your attendance at the event.
Rates for Students (non ISS-members)
- Regular fee: $20 (before March 11, 2015 11:59 PM EST)
- Late registration fee: $30 (effective from March 11, 2015 12:00 PM EST to March 18, 2015 11:59 PM EST).
Photo Competition Guidelines
If you are a first year ISS student, you must participate in the photo competition by submitting at least one photo per category (see the categories below).
If you are not a first year ISS student, you can participate in the photo competition.
The photos must be related to either of the following categories:
1) Your Research Group or Lab
2) Your Research Project
For each category, there will be prizes of $100, $50 and $25 for the first, second and third places.
