HHH: Annual Sock Drive
With Winter fast approaching, Health and Hygiene for Homeless club (HHH) is back this year with another SOCK DRIVE to collect socks to benefit local shelters!!
Our GOAL is to collect at least 300 pairs!
WHAT: new socks (men's, women's)
WHERE: HHH drop-off boxes in McGill Bookstore, M1 Amphitheatre in Strathcona Anatomy Building, Martin Amphitheatre in McIntyre Medical Building, Leacock Building
WHO: All socks will be donated to local shelters such as Welcome Hall Men's Mission, Our 2nd Home Shelter, Native Women's Shelter, Chez Doris and more!
WHY: Foot care and warmth is an important part of their health and hygiene - foot injuries, infections, and ailments are the most common reason for hospital ER visits by the homeless. Shelters tell us that there are never enough socks so let's help in keeping their feet warm and dry!
Note: White socks allow for early detection of injuries (ex.bleeds, ulcers), especially in those who have diabetes and have a decreased sensation (do not feel pain from injuries well)
