Graduate Research and Postdoctoral Trainee Program with Wuhan University in China

Description of the program

Wuhan University and 㽶Ƶ signed a generic collaborative MOU in 2018 after mutual visits of each site and numerous in-person discussions and remote communications. The MOU had agreed to develop student, faculty exchange programs to facilitate bilateral collaboration in training, education and research. Both parties also signed two additional MOUs to develop close collaboration in the fields of neuroscience and family medicine, with strong enthusiasm and active participants in these fields on both sides.

This program fosters international exchange and brings top calibre graduate and postgraduate trainees from Wuhan University’s MD-PhD program to work in research groups at 㽶Ƶ. McGill research groups have the opportunity to integrate highly qualified personnel into their research teams for a period of 1 year. From the previous cohort’s experience, we learned that students from Wuhan were highly qualified research trainees who brought pertinent manpower to the labs. With short but intensive basic training, they quickly adapted to the lab environment and became productive within the timeframe of the training. These students are a small but strong “work force” for the hosting labs.
