Leo Liu
Biography:

Dr. Leo Liu is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology and a member of the Ï㽶ÊÓƵ Research Centre for Complex Traits. He specializes in molecular virology and antiviral innate immunity, focusing on respiratory Ï㽶ÊÓƵ viruses such as influenza viruses and coronaviruses, as well as the RIG-I-like receptor family. His current research includes Ï㽶ÊÓƵ virus biology, innate immune sensing and regulatory mechanisms, and respiratory Ï㽶ÊÓƵ virus attenuation and vaccine design. The Liu Lab employs cutting-edge experimental approaches, integrating genome-wide phenotypic screens, reverse genetics, and animal models to elucidate the host-virus interface at a molecular level. Dr. Liu has been recognized with several awards, including the 2021 Pfizer Junior Investigator Award from the International Cytokine & Interferon Society and the 2023 Postdoctoral Leadership & Service Award from Cleveland Clinic.
