Dr. Marie-Josée Brouillette
Dr. Marie-Josée Brouillette is an Associate Professor at Department of Psychiatry. She focuses on understanding of the determinants and consequences of poor brain health (cognition, mood, motivation) in persons living with HIV. Her group follows 850+ HIV+ individuals across Canada who are comprehensively characterized and followed to document the interplay and change over time in biological parameters, measures of brain health, function and quality of life. Started in 2013, they have received additional funding and will be following the participants for another 5 years, enriching the sample with women. As a member of the Department of Psychiatry, consultation-liaison service, she supervises students and residents during their clinical rotation on that service. As one of a handful of psychiatrists with HIV expertise in Canada, she is involved in the supervision of graduate students with projects on cognitive and mental health aspects of HIV infection, as well as in the development of educational activities for HIV clinicians.
