Hockey Canada scandal is not an isolated event. Forceful government action is past due | CBC Opinion

Athletes have pushed for government action in recent years, however the response has been minimal. The ongoing lack of acknowledgement and inaction to adress any of the athletes concerns is creating a long-term, detrimental harm to athletes across Canada. Alison and Sandrine have mentioned that the federal government must exert more pressure on organizations to register to the Office of the Sport Integrity Commissioner (OSIC) and that the OSIC must commission an independent inquiry into the Canadian sports system. "We have to move beyond the current disclosure that pits athletes and sports organizations against each other." says Alison and Sandrine.
