This career talk features Janet Gwilliam. Janet has held a number of increasingly senior policy positions with the Government in areas of social policy, organizational transformation and expenditure management, corporate services and strategic policy. Prior to joining the public service, she worked in homeless shelters as a frontline counsellor and transitional support worker. She has also done housing outreach and eviction prevention as well as work at the Children’s Aid Society of Hastings and Belleville.
About the SpeakerÂ
Janet Gwilliam is the Director of the Homelessness Policy and Partnerships Division at Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC). After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Sociology from the University of British Columbia, Janet completed a Master of Sociology and Master of Public Administration at Queen’s University. Janet has worked in homeless shelters as a frontline counsellor and transitional support worker. She has also done housing outreach and eviction prevention as well as work at the Children’s Aid Society of Hastings and Belleville. Since joining the federal public service in 2008, she has held a number of increasingly senior positions within ESDC including social policy, organizational transformation and expenditure management, corporate services and strategic policy.
