Title: Towards optimal spectral gaps in large genus.
Abstract: I'll discuss recent joint work with Alex Wright (arXiv: 2103.07496) showing that typical large genus hyperbolic surfaces have first Laplacian eigenvalue at least 3/16−epsilon.
