Department of Natural Resource Sciences Invited Seminar Series: Climate change research and action must look beyond 2100
Join us for a virtual installment of the Department of Natural Resource Sciences Invited Seminar Series: Climate change research and action must look beyond 2100, in which McGill social scientist and postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Natural Resource Sciences Christopher Lyon discusses anthropogenic activity and it's impact on the ·¡²¹°ù³Ù³ó’s climate and ecosystems.Ìý
Christopher Lyon is an environmental social scientist and a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Natural Resource Sciences at McGill University. He is currently researching how different approaches to time can inform mitigation and adaption scenarios for long-term anthropogenic environmental change. Prior to this, he was a Research Fellow at the University of Leeds, contributing to large interdisciplinary Global Food Security funded project on sustainable phosphorous management, and where he led The White Rose University Consortium funded seed project, ‘Refugia of Futures Past,’ on what adaptation means for post-2100 climate impacts.
With more than a decade of experience in researching resilience in social-ecological systems, his contributions span natural resource challenges, environmental governance, disasters, agriculture and food systems, and sustainability transformations.
He holds a PhD in Geography from the University of Dundee, Scotland (2017), supported by a SSHRC Doctoral Fellowship.
