PhD Research Card

Given that the collections of the Humanities and Social Sciences Library are being moved to our offsite Collections Centre, PhD students can now apply for a second borrowing card to ensure they can check out all the materials they need. This card is called a PhD Research Card.

Getting your PhD Research Card

To request a PhD Research Card, please complete and submit this .

Then present yourself at the Loans Desk at any McGill branch library to obtain your card.

Logging in to your PhD Research Card account

Your regular McGill borrowing account and your PhD Research Card are two separate accounts that are not connected to one another.

Your PhD Research Card account will have a different password from your regular McGill account. You will be sent a link to set the password for your PhD Research Card when you present yourself at a McGill branch library to obtain your card.

When signing in to your PhD Research Card account, your login credentials will be the barcode on the physical card and the password that you set. Please follow the instructions found in the “All other borrowers” section of this page when logging in:
