Rosalie Jukier promoted to Full Professor

Published: 21 June 2016

We are delighted to announce that Professor Rosalie Jukier has been promoted to the rank of Full Professor at Ď㽶ĘÓƵ.

Professor Jukier joined the Faculty of Law in 1985. For three decades, she has devoted her time to Faculty and University service, and inspired generations of students through her energetic, focused and brilliant teaching. Indeed, nearly half of Professor Jukier’s time at McGill has been spent in senior governance roles (three terms as Associate Dean, and one term as Dean of Students).

Professor Jukier’s remarkable contributions in the classroom have been recognized with the John W. Durnford Teaching Excellence Award in 2004 and 2016, as well as with the Principal’s Prize for Excellence in Teaching in 2010.

Professor Jukier’s research and teaching focuses on comparative contract law (particularly the remedy of specific performance and the intersection of religious rights and private contract law), the impact of legal traditions and mixed legal systems on procedural law and judicial methodology, as well as on legal pedagogy.

“Over the past decade, Rosalie has emerged in global scholarly settings as a leading voice on mixed legal traditions and legal education, the very best ambassador one could imagine for our distinctive program,” said Dean Daniel Jutras. “She has made an exceptional contribution to McGill and we owe her an extraordinary debt of gratitude. This promotion is a long overdue recognition for a truly remarkable career as a scholar, teacher and administrator!”

Congratulations, Rosalie!
