Geneviève Saumier promoted to Full Professor
It is with great pleasure that the Faculty of Law announces that Geneviève Saumier was promoted to the rank of Full Professor on December 1st. When he shared the good news, Dean Daniel Jutras underscored how, "for nearly twenty years, Geneviève Saumier has outstandingly contributed to the intellectual and collegial life of both the Faculty and the University. A recognized expert in private international law, she has also led a distinguished career on the international stage, playing a crucial role in the work of The Hague Conference. Â
Professor Saumier’s research also focuses on consumer law, the resolution of international disputes and cross-border class actions. Her papers on private international law and on consumer arbitration have been cited many times by the Supreme Court of Canada.
Professor Saumier also teaches law of civil liability and civil procedure. An elected Member of the International Academy of Comparative Law and of the American Association of Private International Law, she is also a member of the board of the Office de la protection du consommateur since 2012.
