Fabien Gélinas named Norton Rose Fulbright Faculty Scholar in Arbitration & Commercial Law
The Faculty of Law is pleased to announce that Professor Fabien Gélinas, Ad.E., Sir William C. Macdonald Chair, was appointed Norton Rose Fulbright Faculty Scholar in Arbitration and Commercial Law for a one-year term. Professor Gélinas was one of the inaugural recipients of this award in 2013. He joins his colleague Professor Kun Fan, who is entering the second year of a three-year appointment.
As Norton Rose Fulbright Faculty Scholars, Professors Gélinas and Fan will support a rich program of research activities in international arbitration and commercial law. These awards were made possible thanks to a generous gift from Norton Rose Fulbright Canada (formerly Norton Rose Canada, and Ogilvy Renault), to which nearly 85% of McGill graduates at the firm contributed.
Sharing the news of the appointment, Dean Robert Leckey highlighted Professor Gélinas’s international reputation and his recent inclusion on the NAFTA Chapter 19 Roster of arbitrators. “Thanks to Norton Rose Fulbright’s support, these awards significantly contribute to sustaining the Faculty of Law as a first-class centre for learning and scholarship in arbitration and commercial law,” he said. “I am grateful for Professor Gélinas’s leadership in this field.”
