Call for candidates: The Hon. Morris J. Fish Clerkship Award
The Centre for Human Rights and Legal Pluralism is pleased to announce the addition of a new opportunity to the International Judicial Clerkship Program.
Established in 2019 by the Honourable Morris J. Fish, former justice of the Supreme Court of Canada, the Hon. Morris J. Fish Clerkship Award will enable one current McGill BCL/JD student, or recent graduate, each year to partially fund their clerkship at the Supreme Court of Israel. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
The successful applicant will receive an award of $5,000 to assist with travel and living expenses related to the clerkship.
How to apply
In order to be eligible for the award, candidates must apply directly to the Supreme Court of Israel and secure a clerkship offer from the Court. Candidates must also commit to providing a final report on their experience at the end of the clerkship. Selection for the award will be based on academic achievement.
Eligibility
All current BCL/JD students and recent graduates are eligible to apply for the clerkship. Please be aware that the Supreme Court of Israel expresses a preference for students in 2L or above.
Preference will also be given to students pursuing a clerkship longer than the required minimum of 3 months.
Alumni applicants should be able to begin the clerkship no later than 12 months after graduation.
Procedure
To apply for the clerkship award, candidates should submit the following items to clerkships.law [at] mcgill.ca:
